The British took no additional losses and won 6-0 and the insurgency for the rest of the day will be reduced due to the Taliban's failure to have any trophy of their early triumph

Hotspots and IEDs and Wrecks! (Oh My!)

Last-minute touches for Gaelcon tomorrow

Hotspot #2 (from S&S)

Hot Spot #2

All five hotspots. I really like these resin pieces - very easy to paint up and with nice detail
Hot Spots

Wrecked pick-up truck. (Again from S&S). I'm not too sure about my colour choice on the body. Too similar to the windows maybe...
Wrecked Pick-Up

Some IEDs. I got a ten-pack from S&S, some nice variety in it, but here's three of them.
IEDs (S&S)

A couple of Liberation Miniatures IEDs - all artillery shells
IEDs (Liberation)

See you there, and I'll be posting heaps of game reports next week in any case

Wilson's Wadi - Map

I played for a while with basing the entire map of the campaign for Wilson's Wadi on actual Satellite imagery, but eventually fell back to the hand drawn schema I've gotten used to.

Anyone out there had good experiences using real satellite imagery as game maps?

Each of the nine scenarios is set in a section of this larger map, so some sections of the village will be reused

Inevitably I'm guessing that players will remember certain encounters based on the terrain layout..."the poppy field of death!" and so on may enter wargamer folklore!

More Afghan Buildings

Putting some final touches together for Gaelcon. Some have seen action before in a semi-painted state...

Hovels

Tomb. There's not a huge amount of room on the rooftop, but figures will just about fit.

Mosque

Tomb interior (I'll probably do something smart with the floor tiles at some stage)

Mosque Interior

Walls - I just got a few to see how they look, and while very different from the Minimi ones, these are pretty good too.

Walls

Three more small adobes

Three Adobes

Britannia

Compound - nice complex building with several levels.

Compound

Market (I didn't put together the overhanging roof section)

Market

The new additions to the collection together

Village

Should make for a nicely packed urban setting at the weekend...

Come, you are a tedious fool. To the purpose!

Two gentlemen of the Sussex Militia meet in London and come to some disagreement

Havelock
Thou impertinent motley-minded scullian!

Gresham
You are as rheumatic as two dry toasts

A Duel
Thou'rt by no means valiant;
For thou dost fear the soft and tender fork of a poor worm.

Golden ale and crimson sawdust in the alleyways of Southwark.
I'll be slightly re-writing THW's Red Sand, Blue Sky rules (for Gladiators) for duellists in Elizabethan England.

In memory of Guildmember William Atkinson who recently passed away.

Soviet Paratroopers (VDV)

Veterans of The Guild's recent Big Game, Jez on the forum was getting rid of these at a pretty irresistable price. I reckon they'll see good service in our Afghan games - I'll have to pick up a Mi-8/17 to carry them into action

Each of the three squads has seven members - NCO with AK-74 (he's the guy pointing obviously!), 1 Dragunov, 1 RPG, 1 RPK and 3 AK-74s

1st Squad moves along a wall

2nd Squad takes up position

3rd Squad exposed in open ground

I'm going to slightly retouch the bases for a more arid look and add some desert silfor tufts...
